I Put This Lifeproof Jewelry to the Test for 30 Days. Here’s What Happened.
Could everyday jewelry actually survive my everyday life? I gave five pieces 31 days to prove it.
One thing you should know about me: I never leave the house without my everyday jewelry on.
I have the pieces I reach for almost automatically like the necklace that goes with everything, the bracelet I never think to take off, the earrings that make me feel a little more put together even when the rest of me definitely isn’t, and my every day engagement ring so I don’t lose the real thing.
The problem is, because I wear them every single day, I end up replacing them way more often than I’d like. Especially my necklaces and bracelets, or basically anything that comes into contact with my lotions, perfumes, sweat, and shower water.
Nothing annoys me more than finding a piece I love, only to realize that actually wearing it is the very thing that ruins it. And this isn’t relegated to just the affordable brands, either. I have quite a few designer pieces that tarnish no matter how often I polish them.
So when I came across Sterling Forever and saw claims like waterproof, tarnish-proof, and gym-safe, I decided to put them to the test.
I picked five pieces I genuinely wanted to wear and, for the next 30 days, made one rule: I wasn’t going to baby them. I showered in them, worked out in them, slept in them, and went about my routine without changing a thing.
Here are the five pieces that made it through real life, and the ones I’d actually keep wearing.
1. The Earrings
Pretty Enough to Notice, Easy Enough to Forget
I’m picky about everyday earrings because the prettiest pair in the world will still drive me crazy if they’re too heavy or irritate my ears.
These immediately won points for their French clip closure. They felt secure and didn’t poke my head when I laid on them. The princess-cut gave me enough sparkle to feel polished without looking like I was wearing “occasion” jewelry on a random Tuesday.
More importantly, I treated them exactly like everyday earrings. I showered in them, worked out in them, slept in them, and generally forgot they were there, which ended up being my favorite thing about them.
The only thing that I could complain about is that because they dangle, sometimes, my hair would get caught in them first thing in the morning.
Are they good for every day, though? I would say yes. They didn’t tarnish at all, and are just as vibrant on day 31 as they were on day one.
2. The Bracelet
So Good, I Bought the Matching Necklace
Of all five pieces I tested, I probably put the Helene Tennis Bracelet through the most.
I wore it to the gym, ran a 5K in it, swam in it, sprayed perfume while wearing it, and showered in it twice a day more times than I can count. (I work out a lot. There are a lot of showers.)
It was comfortable enough that I never felt the need to take it off before a workout, and the clasp definitely does its job almost too well.
What surprised me most, though, was how good the stones continued to look. Even after 31 days of sweat, water, perfume, lotion, and basically zero special treatment, they never seemed to lose their luster.
And apparently I wasn’t the only one who noticed. I got so many compliments on this bracelet.
It has enough sparkle to stand out on its own, but I also loved adding it to a bracelet stack. It worked just as well with workout clothes as it did dressed up for dinner.
By the end of the month, I wasn’t trying to see if the Helene could keep up with me anymore. I’d forgotten I was testing it at all.
3. The Necklace
The Toughest Jobs for the Toughest Soldier
Necklaces are always the toughest test for me. They’re the pieces I replace most often because my neck gets the full brunt of basically everything.
Perfume? Direct hit. Sweat? Constantly. Lotion and skincare? Always. And then there’s the accidental tugging, getting caught on clothes, and all the other abuse a necklace takes when you wear it every day.
If my necklaces don’t give up on their own, they usually start smelling metallic or looking dull and brassy over time.
So, it takes a lot for a necklace to impress me.
I chose the Round CZ Prong Set Pendant in gold because it’s exactly my kind of everyday necklace: simple, delicate, and easy to wear with practically anything. Then I treated it exactly like every other piece in this experiment.
Aside from my hair getting caught in the chain a couple of times, I genuinely have nothing to complain about.
And the best endorsement I can probably give it?
The 31-day test is over. I’m still wearing it.
4. The Ring
I Didn’t Expect to Love Her
Of all the pieces I picked for this experiment, I was probably the most skeptical about wearing a ring 24/7 for an entire month.
I lift a lot, and heavy dumbbells plus rings aren’t always the best combination. Normally, my rings come off before I even start my workout because the last thing I want is a band digging into my finger every time I grip a weight.
But the Nova being a pinky ring completely changed the vibe.
It stayed out of the way while I lifted, never bothered my grip, and was comfortable enough that I genuinely stopped thinking about the fact that I was wearing a ring at the gym at all.
Outside of my workouts, I loved it even more. It’s small enough to add a little extra sparkle to whatever you already have going on with your hands, but pretty enough to completely stand on its own. I’ve worn it both ways, and at this point, I wear it all the time.
After a month of workouts, showers, handwashing, lotion, and everything else my hands get into, it’s still just as bright as the day I got it.
One warning, though: if you want this one, I wouldn’t sit on it. It’s a new arrival, and I have a feeling this little ring is going to sell out very fast.
5. The Engagement Ring
Looks Like the Real Thing
Here’s something I didn’t really think about until this experiment: wearing your actual engagement ring every single day is kind of a risk.
You want to wear it to the gym, but lifting weights in it isn’t exactly ideal. You want to wear it to the office, but the thought of losing it on the train is enough to make you nervous. You want to wear it to happy hour, but suddenly you’re three drinks in and checking your left hand every ten minutes.
And don’t even get me started on vacations, pools, beaches, or anywhere else a priceless, deeply sentimental piece of jewelry could disappear in about two seconds.
This ring set made me realize I don’t actually have to choose between wearing the bridal sparkle I love and keeping my real engagement ring somewhere safe.
It gives me that same just-married feeling, complete with an oval center stone and coordinating bands, but I can actually wear it wherever the day takes me without treating my left hand like precious cargo.
I’d rather save my real engagement ring for date nights, special occasions, and the moments when I really want to wear my ring. The rest of the time? I’d rather wear something beautiful that I’m not terrified to live my life in.
The Brand I Wish I’d Found Years Ago
After 31 days, I can confidently say Sterling Forever has completely changed what I expect from everyday jewelry.
Replacing the same kinds of necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings every few months isn’t actually saving you any money. I’d rather buy a piece I genuinely love once, wear the hell out of it, and know the brand behind it actually expects it to last.
That’s what impressed me most about Sterling Forever.
Their pieces are waterproof, hypoallergenic, and made to stand up to the showers, workouts, sweat, handwashing, perfume, and general chaos that comes with actually wearing your jewelry instead of keeping it tucked safely inside a box.
Then there’s the lifetime guarantee. Sterling Forever backs every piece they sell with one. So if your jewelry loses a stone, has a clasp malfunction, or experiences qualifying discoloration, the brand will repair or replace it according to the terms of its guarantee.
That matters to me because anyone can make jewelry look beautiful on the day it arrives. I want to know what happens after I’ve actually lived in it.
After a month, my pieces are still bright. The necklace I expected to destroy is still around my neck. The bracelet survived two-a-day showers, swimming, workouts, and a 5K. And the little pinky ring I wasn't sure I'd even like has become one of the pieces I wear most.
So yes, Sterling Forever officially has me.
