Is this real sterling silver?

Yes. The ring is sterling silver in both finishes. The gold version is 14K gold vermeil over that same sterling silver base.

Is the stone a real garnet?

No. It is a cubic zirconia in a garnet red color. "Garnet" is the name of the colorway, not the stone.
